“Music is not what I do, it’s who I am” -Carolyn Payne Rogers, mom and mentor
I am a pianist and teacher living on the west side of Phoenix. I began playing music when I was five years old, trained classically and competitively through high school, and studied music in college. I taught piano lessons for many years before my own children needed me full-time in their lives. After they were grown, I began teaching first grade and transitioned into owning my own piano studio.
I believe that music has a great power to energize, soothe, and heal the soul. Teaching is something I have done my whole life, whether at my church, in the community, as a first grade teacher and to my children and their friends. I decided to harmonize my love of music and teaching into a new studio. I wake up every morning excited to teach, learn, and be a part of growth in music.
Fun Facts about Me:
My belief and faith in my Savior, Jesus Christ is a huge part of who I am….but not part of this website!
I have 4 children and their spouses and 13 grandchildren who I love and adore above all else.
I love to travel and have a bucket list of adventurous places I can’t wait to explore. (Iceland and Spain are most recently checked off!)
I am not a fan of suspense. When reading a book or watching a movie, you will usually find me googling the end or reading the end of the book first. This allows me to enjoy all the details in-between!
I love baking, especially new recipes. I’ll try any recipe on Pinterest, even if it is a four-hour process!
I am a novice foodie. When in another country, I only want to dine at local restaurants. No chain-restaurants allowed!
I am a little competitive when playing card games with adults. Kids? I have no problem swinging the game to let them win and give them confidence. Adults….everyone is fair game!
I will eat anything with s’mores in it….cookies, brownies, gelato, and of course the original!
I do not like to camp….unless it includes a comfy bed and running water (think hotel)
I have a love/hate relationship with exercise. I love how I feel afterwards, but I hate the start-up process!
